Creating the Judgement of Shamash pistols posed several unique challenges due to their unconventional design. Unlike standard firearms, these pistols feature a futuristic pressure plate setup instead of a traditional trigger mechanism. Additionally, the design includes looping decorative elements that create a sweeping aesthetic, complicating the physical creation process. These parts are not easily compatible with FDM printers due to their intricate shapes and are too large to be efficiently printed in resin.
Another striking feature of these pistols is the floating/levitating crystal. Initially, I planned to suspend the crystal using a thin steel rod. However, powering the LED inside the crystal presented an additional challenge. To address this, I opted to use a translucent PETG tube instead of the steel rod. This solution allowed for both the suspension of the crystal and the integration of the LED, achieving the desired levitating effect while maintaining functionality.
By all accounts, the final design and execution successfully met the visual and functional requirements of the client, delivering a pair of pistols that are both visually stunning and operationally sound.
The pistols were then used as the focus point of an amazing cosplay ensemble by the very talented Laurelin. Please visit her Instagram and show her some support! – LaurelinAureo Instagram
